Squares, streets and houses in Dubrovnik 'fascinating'
26 November 2008The marble-paved squares, cobblestone streets, houses, churches and fountains in Dubrovnik in Croatia are fascinating, according to writer in a newspaper.
A walk through the local market and along stone walls is a highlight, where below yachts can be seen sailing on the Adriatic Sea into the tiny harbour.
Dubrovnik's city walls, which were built between the 13th and 16th century, are said to be the finest in Europe, the journalist in the Calgary Herald says
The day can be spent wandering through the old city and experiencing its morning market, shops and historic buildings or watching children play football.
In the afternoon tourists can relax and cool off on a pebbled beach near the deep, blue Adriatic waters which feel like paradise, according to the writer.
The walls in Dubrovnik were also recently chosen by the Sunday Times as the second best place to go for a walk in the world, according to the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.
