St Blasius festival could attract travellers to Croatia
27 January 2010A holiday in Dubrovnik could be most vibrant if taken in February during the Feast of St Blasius.
For more than 1,000 years the people of the ancient city have been celebrating the event by throwing open the doors of their seaside resort to visitors.
A number of cultural, sporting, musical and entertainment events are held each year - many of which could be of interest to people on a Croatian holiday.
Dubrovnik is lit and decorated for the day - which this year falls on February 3rd - and a procession featuring traditional costumes and music marches through the city.
The finale comes with a service at the St Blasius church with tales of the "glorious" history of Dubrovnik, the Croatian National Tourist Board states.
People who travel to Dubrovnik may wish to walk the route of the walls which surround the city - an activity that typically takes about an hour.
