Sting and the Police 'set for Dubrovnik gig'

Rock band The Police - led by iconic British singer Sting - is set to perform in Dubrovnik, giving fans across the world the perfect reason to choose Croatia for their next holiday.

The concert is scheduled for the end of May or the start of June and will signal the start of the city's cultural summer, reports the Croatian Times.

Booking a Croatian holiday now could present followers of the group - whose hits include Roxanne and Message in a Bottle - with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see their heroes on Croatian soil.

Sting and The Police have not been on tour since the start of 2008, according to the online newspaper.

Fans of the band could use the performance as an opportunity to visit the ancient walls of Dubrovnik as well as its tight, cobbled streets and immaculate beaches.

Dubrovnik was recently named by sunshine.co.uk as the top choice of holiday destination for women hoping to avoid this summer's world cup.
