Strength of eurozone 'could boost Croatia travel'
06 May 2009The strength of the euro could convince more holidaymakers to opt for a holiday in Croatia.
At least that is the opinion of the Post Office's head of travel services Sarah Munroe, who believes "it is inevitable" that people going on holiday will consider destinations outside the eurozone in the current climate.
With a plethora of accommodation, Croatia has grown in popularity as a tourist destination in recent years.
Ms Munroe said: "We think holidaymakers are considering all the costs of a holiday carefully - including flights, accommodation and local cost of living - which means that a destination like Croatia ... will have a growing appeal."
She added that the country rated as one of the cheapest holiday hotspots in the Post Office's 2009 Holiday Costs Barometer.
Figures published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics in October 2008 revealed that there were 2.92 million visitors to Croatia in August 2008, which was up four per cent on the same period one year before.
