Take an Istria holiday and enjoy local wines

Istria is renowned for a number of things - and one of those is the tasty wine it produces.

People on an Istria vacation this weekend will be able to enjoy the Festival of East Istrian Wine on Saturday June 20th.

Anyone visiting the region later in the year will miss out on the wine event, but there will still be plenty of wine to sample.

Saturday's gathering is in Skitaca - located around 15 km from Labin - and the town has many attractions, according to the official Istria tourism website.

Describing the town, the portal called it a "sleeping beauty where civilisation has not left a deeper trace".

Some of the sights people on an Istria holiday will be able to benefit from include ancient architecture, stone houses, dry stone walls and "paths along the bare rocky ground surrounded by tranquillity".

For travellers wanting to explore more of the Croatian region, there are nearly 445 km of Istrian coastline to take in.
