The magic of Christmas on Croatia trips in the Gacka Valley

Croatia trips to the Gacka Valley hold the promise of some "Christmas magic" this festive season, according to the Croatia National Tourist Board.

December 12th and 13th mark the celebration of Advent in the region, with events due to take place in Otocac in honour of the approach of Christmas.

The tourism organisation notes that the celebration is not only for locals, which may please anyone taking Croatia trips in the run-up to Christmas.

Visitors are also welcomed, with regional specialities and home-made food on offer at the festive fair and indoors in nearby restaurants.

The celebration is due to culminate with an evening performance by Dani Stipanicev, described by the tourist board as "one of Croatia's most beautiful voices".

For a more rousing performance, however, Saturday December 12th kicks off with a concert by the Otocac Firefighters' Brass Band at 10:00 local time.

Holidaymakers taking Croatia trips later in the month may instead head to Rovinj for the Christmas and New Year Programme, which last from December 15th until New Year's Eve.
