Tourism increase in Montenegro

An increasing number of tourists are making trips to Montenegro, according to a source.

Government statistics show the country, which has transport links for those wishing to travel to Croatia, has enjoyed a five per cent rise in the number of visiting travellers between January and July, with 610,000 doing so, reports Ready2invest.co.uk.

Ivana Bulatovic, a public relations adviser for the Montenegro tourism ministry, told the website: "Tourist product has diversified and there is an increasing interest for mountain, nautical, health, religious, congress, as well as other types of tourism."

The figures also show a seven per cent increase in the number of visitors taking overnight stays in the country.

Meanwhile, it has been claimed this week the nation has benefited from the popularity of tourists wishing to travel to Croatia.

Paul Collins, of property firm BuyAssociation, stated the increased levels of tourism in Croatia resulted in a rise in foreign investors purchasing property in Montenegro.
