Tourists 'can enjoy non-eurozone holidays in Croatia for some time'
27 January 2011People planning holidays in Croatia may be pleased to learn they should have approximately three years to benefit from the country's non-eurozone status.
The nation is said to be unlikely to be confirmed as a member of the European Union (EU) until the end of 2013 or the start of 2014, states a report by the Croatian Times.
That is the view of Hannes Swoboda, the European Parliament's rapporteur for Croatia, who says even if the membership negotiations are completed on schedule this June, it will be some time until the country is an official part of the association.
Mr Swoboda was speaking at the EU's Committee on Foreign Affairs meeting, where he made a special presentation on the nation's case, the newspaper states.
Three more years of being out of the eurozone may please those staying in accommodation in Croatia, as the region is often thought to be more expensive.
Other countries bidding to join the EU include Macedonia, Turkey and Iceland.
