Travel industry 'cautiously optimistic'

Professionals in the travel industry are optimistic about 2010, ABTA - The Travel Association has claimed.

Frances Tuke, spokesperson for the group, suggested that bookings abroad were looking positive and people were feeling "cautiously optimistic".

"There was some stability being shown. We did see that in August 2009, there's no doubt about it. We did see a rise but I think it's very early days to talk about recovery at this stage," Ms Tuke said.

She added that although the market was down it was "not too bad" when compared to other sectors.

According to figures from the Office for National Statistics posted late last week, the number of visits by UK residents abroad fell by one per cent between May and July 2009.

People who are looking for a great destination to holiday in could give Croatia a try.
