Travel to Croatia for 'eagerly anticipated Samobor Carnival'

Carnival lovers may be wise to consider booking a trip to Croatia for next month in order to enjoy one of the country's greatest celebrations.

Samobor Carnival kicks off on February 13th and runs until the 24th of the same month, the Croatian National Tourist Board confirms.

It describes the event as a "rampant manifestation" in what is widely regarded to be the "carnival capital" of the region.

Locals use the festival as an opportunity to carry out the tradition of chasing away evil spirits from the year behind them.

Meanwhile, visitors may be more focused on partaking in the "carefree joy" of the carnival and taking in some of the music, dancing and theatre that is sure to play a part.

The streets of the town will be alive with laughter and partying, while the main square is the focal point for all artistic shows.

Samobor is located just to the west of Zagreb, where new easyJet flights from the UK will land from next month.
