Travel to Hvar for "postcard-like" views
21 September 2010The views available to those who travel to Hvar as part of their holiday in Croatia are so perfect they could easily form the backdrop for postcards, says an expert.
Wu Shangyuan, writing for Today, says the island is a little different from anything else experienced while on the Dalmatian coast.
Zagreb and Split are attractive because of their rich history and unique styles, whereas Hvar relies on its overwhelming natural beauty.
Located just a short ferry ride away from Split, the island is the greenest of all Croatia's 1,000-plus landmasses and contains numerous spectacular views.
The Cathedral of St Stephan is one of the highlights of Hvar town, the author claims, suggesting it is a pretty background for those planning to capture their time on camera.
The writer advises tourists to venture to the top of the island's fortress, stating: "There we were greeted by a spectacular view of the harbour and islands, distinct dots of green afloat on a sea of light blue. On a good day, this view is priceless."
Hvar is not the only island available to travellers to Croatia though, with the likes of Korcula, Brac and Krk all offering something special.
