Travellers to Croatia are ambassadors
02 September 2009Tourists heading to holiday destinations such as Croatia this year should consider themselves ambassadors for their country.
That is the opinion of Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, who noted that many other tourists will visit the same destinations and each person's behaviour reflects on othes who journey there.
He said: "If you do go and you go out of your way to be polite and friendly, it can make a huge impression and people can say 'wow, those guys are really great'.
"People should read up on the destination before they go maybe talk to people who went there before you. The more you find out about places, the more you will get out of it."
In the recent British Behaviour Abroad survey released by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Croatia was not listed as one of the areas where Britons are most likely to be arrested when abroad.
