Turkish president meets with Mesic in Croatia
11 June 2008Abdullah Gul, the Turkish president, is currently in Croatia as a guest of counterpart Stjepan Mesic.
He will also deliver a speech at a Turkish-Croatian Business Council meeting and talk to the speaker of the Croatian parliament during his visit, according to the Turkish presidency press centre.
It is expected Mr Gul will also be on hand to sign several agreements while he is in the country.
The Turkish prime minister has been accompanied by state minister Mehmet Aydin, bureaucrats and businessmen, and all are set to return home tomorrow.
It was suggested during Croatian foreign minister Gordan Jandrokovic's visit to Turkey recently that reciprocal visits will boost relations between the two countries.
While in the country Mr Jandrokovic thanked Turkey for its support in gaining Nato membership and pledged it could rely on Croatia's backing as it works towards the same goal, turkishpress.com reported.
Both nations are currently working to gain accession to the European Union.
