UK washout 'may prompt surge in villa holiday bookings'
29 July 2009The unpleasant weather seen in the UK this week is likely to lead to a surge in the number of people booking villas in sunshine hotspots such as Croatia, it has been claimed.
According to Abta The Travel Association, many European countries are currently basking in temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius news which is likely to prompt many people to pack their bags and head overseas.
In addition, the Met Office has now retracted its earlier forecasts and has instead predicted that August weather in the UK will be unsettled.
"Over the last two years Britain suffered some of the worst summer weather on record and Abta members saw a surge in bookings in August with people desperate to escape the downpours," the organisation noted.
Meanwhile, those looking to escape the gloom at home may be interested to learn that Dubrovnik was recently named as one of Europe's top destinations.
According to travel site Flightmapping.com, the area has plenty to offer British travellers and is one of the most picturesque places in Europe.
