Vukovar Film Festival hands out awards
04 August 2008Croatian directors Kirstijan Milic and Zvonimor Juric and critic Nenad Polimac were on hand at the Vukovar Film Festival to cast their votes on the best films of the event, it has been revealed.
Bela Paczolaj's The Adventurers won the best feature film award, having already scooped the honours for best debut film at Hungarian Film Week, CinEuropa reports.
Among other winners at the festival were Radu Jude's Dimineata, which won best short film, and Adina Pintille's Nu Te Supara Dar, which won best documentary.
The festival was instigated by Igor Rakonic, the founder of distribution company Discovery Film, the website states.
Evening screenings were held on a ferry on the Danube which created "a special atmosphere".
Meanwhile, the Dubrovnik film festival was hailed as a success by commentators and organisers.
The Hollywood Reporter stated the programme was "solid and varied", while Mia Pecinas, Libertas festival director told the newspaper she felt this year's event was the most successful yet.
