War exhibition may attract history buffs to Croatia holidays

A gallery of images depicting wars and conflicts from around the world is one of the highlights of a holiday in Dubrovnik, according to a newspaper contributor.

War Photo Ltd was nominated by a user known as Troutiemcfish in a Guardian competition to identify the world's best pictorial exhibitions.

Indeed, the suggestion was named by the newspaper as its Winning Tip, with the venue and its contents described as "compelling".

"The images are both hard-hitting and heartbreaking ... These are the lives and deaths of real people and I urge you to rise to the emotional challenge," wrote the entrant.

Visiting the gallery may also be an opportunity for holidaymakers to learn more about various battles, as well as see them through the eyes of those who were there.

Accommodation in Dubrovnik was recently said by Guide2Croatia to be highly desirable, with the ancient city and the village of Milni named as the best spots in the country.
