Weather to be ideal for winter skiing holidays in Croatia
28 September 2010The weather in Croatia is due to be particularly cold this winter, which will be welcome news to those planning on heading to the country for a skiing holiday.
Croatia has emerged as an up-and-coming winter sports destination in recent years, offering magnificent scenery, plenty of snow and affordable prices.
And the Croatian Times, quoting a report by Slobodna Dalmacija, notes conditions will be even greater than in previous years once the cold months of 2010 set in.
Meteorologist Zoran Vakula tells the news source the country's climate will be colder than average, including lengthy periods of extreme weather.
This could make it ideal for skiing, snowboarding and other sub-zero activities, with a thick covering of snow a likely consequence of the expected temperatures.
Find-Croatia.com notes the country's inland areas are largely mountainous, especially in Slavonia and the east, where thick snow and ice usually stands for much of winter.
