Witness mining heritage on Croatia vacations

Holidaymakers taking Croatia vacations this December have the opportunity to witness a slice of mining life in Ivanec.

December 4th and 5th are the "miners' days" in Ivanec, featuring displays of sculptures made by miners along with artwork created by local children.

It could be the perfect way to add some traditional experiences to Croatia vacations for those keen to see the true spirit of the country.

The Croatian National Tourist Board says: "The Miners' Days in Ivanec demonstrate the importance the people of this area attach to keeping alive the memory of their traditional ways of social and cultural life."

Among the planned events, the tourism organisation adds that a procession by the Ivanec Miners' Company is "undoubtedly the most attractive part".

The Tourist Board of Ivanec notes the long tradition of mining that has existed in Ivanec.

Much of this centres around the discovery of deposits of iron ore and iron manganese ore in the locality.
