World Darts Championship coming to Croatia
13 March 2009Darts lovers have a new date to enter in the diary with the announcement that the sport's world championships are coming to Croatia.
The first global tournament for both male and female entrants is to be held in the coastal resort of Zadar, which has long proved a popular destination with tourists.
The organiser behind the event, the International Dart Federation is anticipating that up to 3,000 players from over 40 countries across Europe and the rest of the planet will be attending, the Croatian Times claimed.
Over the course of the event, close to 45 official and unofficial tournament events will take place, with many of the participants coming from the Croatian Dart Federation, the newspaper added.
Total prize money for the competition amounts to 100,000 euros (£92,000).
The event will be held between June 20th and 27th at Zadar's Kresimir Cosic sports hall.
