World's top athletes set for stay in accommodation in Croatia
01 September 2010A host of the world's finest athletes will this weekend (September 4th-5th) be staying in accommodation in Croatia as they compete in the Continental Cup.
Among them will be the globe's fasted 800 metres runner, David Rudisha of Kenya, who will lead Africa's challenge at the event, reports xinhuanet.com.
The competition is to be held in Split, in the heart of Croatia's glamorous Dalmatian coast.
Scores of holidaymakers could also be staying in Croatian villas and other accommodation as they bid to witness the sporting stars compete.
Africa appears to be strong contenders for the title, with Asbel Kiprop named by the news source as a potential winner of the 1,500 metres.
British travellers to Croatia could be throwing their support behind countryman Michael Rimmer, who is due to take on Rudisha.
The World Challenge Zagreb championship is due to take place in the Croatian capital today, with US sprinter Tyson Gay among those in action.
