Zagreb 'loved by tourists'
17 August 2009A writer for the Scotsman has highlighted the popularity of Croatia as a holiday destination.
After speaking to a travelling football fan who has made some 25 trips to watch his team Hearts play in various games abroad, Catherine Salmond noted that Zagreb has much more to offer than football.
She wrote: "Croatia has become a popular holiday destination with thousands of Scots over the last few years, with visitors taking advantage of its stunning coastline, fascinating history and welcoming locals.
"Zagreb, the country's capital since 1991, is one of the most popular attractions, loved by tourists for its picturesque open-air markets, large parks and charming architecture."
Furthermore, the journalist suggested that the prices are particularly appealing to holidaymakers, with a pint of beer costing £1.40 on average.
Zagreb has been hitting the headlines recently for hosting a leg of the U2 360 world tour.
