Zagreb to host comedy festival in September
28 August 2009Comedians from Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are set to take part in a festival of laughs in Zagreb.
The Croatian capital will welcome 15 comics from the three nations at the Tvornica between September 10th and 12th.
It has been designed to promote stand-up comedy in Croatia which is still in a fledgling state, according to the festival director Marina Orsag, the Croatian Times reports.
"With laughter against depression because of recession," is the motto of the festival, according to the newspaper.
The theme of the shows will be 'punch-line', a well known concept in England but a relatively unknown idea in the Baltic nation.
Tourists who are heading to Croatia may want to pop in and soak up the atmosphere before experiencing the rest of the city.
September 2nd will also see international best-selling writer Cecelia Ahern meeting fans at a centrally located library.
She will be promoting her latest novel Thanks for the Memories.
