    • Customer reviews:

We were very impressed think the it would be nice to have a welcome pack just with basics in. we loved it and would recommend it, but not unless you are fit a lot of steps but well worth the climb. We were really pleased with how well equipped the kitchen was and that there were extra duvets as the weather was unseasonably cold. This has been a problem with other houses we've rented but not here. We also really appreciated the wood stove and the supply of wood we could use. As we swam every day we also loved the efficient showers and the warm underfloor heating. Really liked the good quality fixtures and fittings in the bathroom and kitchen and the umbrella on the terrace.

Some instructions for the hot water would have been helpful e.g. how long it needed to heat up, whether we should switch it off at night. Also, the directions to the house could be clearer. Perhaps say it's the last house on the left hand side of the road with two metal green gates. The photos on the directions page also didn't seem to match up with the property.

I forgot to bring my mobile phone so didn't get the caretaker's messages. Mario was very responsive when we did call him from a passerby's phone as we were lost - it took us about 30 minutes to find the house.

Impressed with: The naturalness of the beaches and how much trouble had gone into making the sea accessible. the cleanliness of the beaches and the water, generally.
Not impressed with: Didn't seem to have recycling bins.
Recommend: We enjoyed Vala, the local restaurant and can recommend the grilled fish dishes. Krka National Park on the mainland is a must. Also, the v shaped beach on the other side of the island is worth going to. We loved the peace and quiet of Splitska and felt completely safe walking to and from the restaurant every night through the local side streets.
Favourite villa moment: There were 2 Eating breakfast on the terrace Being warm and cosy inside with the wood fire whilst thunder and lightning went on outside

I'm writing to let you know that my family and I had a wonderful time staying at BC028 in Splitska on Brac island in Croatia earlier in the summer. The villa was terrific and Splitska was absolutely charming.

Excellent. The property was perfect for us and just a short walk down to the harbour down some steep steps. It might be worth including the steepness in the spec to pre-warn anyone with mobility problems though they could always take the longer route round on the road. The sea/harbour was much closer than I expected so was delighted. Owner and his wife are very charming, all good.

Thank you for sending me so many last minute options which included this wonderful property; in retrospect the choosing of this villa in Splitska was ideal for us so very pleased we went for this location. You were very helpful and efficient at responding to all my e mails promptly which was a huge relief as being so last minute and having set our hearts on a first time visit to Croatia I was getting somewhat stressed about it all, so many thanks again for that.

Impressed with: The Croatian people who were so welcoming, the shoreline and bays which lined with the pines are absolutely beautiful. Lovely crystal clear water, lots of boats coming in and out of the harbour to provide interest. The facilities, even the small bathing platform in Splitska provides a shower and a portable loo which is immaculately clean my daughter tells me, as were all facilities we visited. The main roads, unlike the UK, are in excellent condition. The food, the local cheese and the olive oil which is magnificent. The island has retained rustic charm, hopefully it will stay that way. We only spent a day on the mainland at Krka falls which was equally enjoyable though we missed the pleasant island breeze!
Not impressed with: We knew in advance so it wasn't a disappointment but we missed our return Ferry to Split on the Saturday although we turned up 40 mins before as they are so over subscribed, Saturday probably being a changeover day probably didn't help, so you have to be prepared to hang around but this wasn't really a problem as there is a beach and bar within seeing distance so you can lane up your car and keep watch in comfort. A kat runs between Bol and Hvar island but at non tourist times, they transport the local workforce and it is expensive to water taxi across so that was a shame. My daughters visited friends in Hvar overnight and had to go Brac to Split to Hvar and then same back again which was a bit of a mission. But a bit of adversity doesn't go amiss and there was nothing else that was even a slight concern.
Recommend:  Typically we can't find the receipts, we had evening drink in the Bar on the harbour every night which was excellent and then ate in two of the three restaurants on offer at the harbour, food very good and waiting staff were incredibly friendly with local advice and helpful, so a very pleasant experience.
Favourite villa moment: The summer kitchen was a real bonus. It rained intermittently for a couple of days whilst we were there which didn't ruin the trip at all, but being able to enjoy being outdoors without getting wet was a real bonus. Conversely, when very hot the outside downstairs seating area was also well shaded from the heat so with that option and the upstairs sun deck, who could ask for more. To be fair we toured the island a lot so were only in the villa early morning and early and late evening.
