3 Bedroom House with Pool on Solta, Sleeps 6

  • Three Bedroom Villa with Pool on Solta Island

This three bedroom house is located in the charming fishing village of Maslinica on the lovely wooded island of Solta. As well as harbouring a number of restaurants and cafes, Maslinica is also well known for its extremely attractive 18th century palace. Once the holiday retreat of Austrian nobility, the palace has now been restored to a beautiful harbour side restaurant offering international cuisine and wines. Solta is easily accessible from Split via a car ferry or a catamaran.

The pretty villa is accessed via a road with parking for two cars available towards the rear of the villa. Approximately 10 steps up from the parking guests arrive at the front door. Guests enter directly into the open plan split level kitchen diner lounge area with doors leading out onto a pool and sea facing terrace. There is also a separate shower room on this level. The first floor features one double bedroom with balcony and park view, one twin room with harbour view and one double room with terrace and harbour view. This floor also features a separate shower room with washing machine. Access to the pool is from the lounge onto a terrace and down a small flight of steps to the pool area with sea views.

It is an easy walk down the hill to the beach or to the village. The house makes an ideal place for guests looking to stay somewhere truly authentic and close enough to be within walking distance of cafes and restaurants. Solta is easily accessible by car ferry (approximately 35 minute journey) from Split.

    • Customer reviews:

A wonderful villa conveniently located in Maslinca in Solta. We enjoyed the ferry trips to Split but also enjoyed the peace and relaxing time on Solta.

Very convenient location close to Maslinca harbour and beach. Owner very helpful and very keen to ensure that we were happy with everything in the villa. He also arranged a boat trip for us.

      Impressed with:
Nice climate clear blue sea friendly people
Not impressed with: Nothing. - I liked Croatia
Recommend: The Diocletian Palace in Split was very interesting. We also took a boat trip to Hvar, the blue lagoon and Bol beach. Trogir was also very picturesque. We liked the bars and restaurants on the port at Maslinca.
Favourite villa moment: BBQ on the terrace followed by walking down to the harbour for drinks in the harbour side bars

This is a lovely property pleasantly and peacefully situated above the resort a few minutes’ walk away. There are several restaurants in Maslinica we tried a few, the stand out being Sakajet, which gave superb service, some great fish and, unprompted, a tray of sweets to celebrate my wife's birthday, free of charge.

Impressed with:   I have been several times. The people, the food, the climate, the sea, you could call me a fan.
      Not impressed with:
Recommend: We really enjoyed our special meal at Sakajet.
Favourite villa moment: Finding the pool so inviting in mid-June! Enjoying a welcome beer with our extremely helpful and generous perfect host.

The owner was really really helpful. This extra attention to detail made all the difference. Lovely architecture, people, clear water and great food.

The house needs a coffee maker. Also - driving directions to the house would be helpful as well. We loved the home/ location - the pool, the space, but the back door was broken (no way to secure the house) and the beds are extremely uncomfortable. It was very difficult to sleep during our stay. Also - there was no gas for the hot water when we arrived so we could not take hot showers the first day which was a bit miserable - once we finally had hot water it was much better.

Impressed with: The beauty of the country, the easy friendly nature of the people and the food and wine!
Recommend:  Konobar Saskina in Maslinica had the best food in the town and the service was friendly and warm. The market in Grohote is a lot of fun and you can buy honey and honey products made on the island. The restaurants in the town of Stomorska are also wonderful.
Favourite villa moment: Relaxing by the pool surrounded by the smells of huge lavender and rosemary bushes mixed with refreshing breezes from The Adriatic, looking up at the cerulian sky.

Comments from property: The water is not heated with gas, but with electrical boiler. It is always kept on during the whole summer, and the switch is by the bathroom door along with the switch for the light and heater. It could be that the guests prior to these accidentally switched it off and the water wasn't hot. Gas is kept in 10 litre containers; when it gets empty within one day we replace it with a new one. Usually during the summer we buy between 2-3 containers. Regarding the door that was broken nobody reported this to us, neither the guests prior nor the ones after; I really don't know what door was broken and how? We had the upper gate that slides in order to be opened and it sometimes needs to be pushed a little harder to slide it all the way. This can be the ‘broken’ door that they are mentioning.

Regarding the bed - They are soft; I know some guests like harder beds but some of the guests like the softer beds. So this is the kind we have.

      Stayed July 2012

The property was ideal for us so no real complaints but a few pointers. The air-conditioning upstairs is in the stairwell so if you want the benefit in the bedrooms you need to keep all the doors open. We could not make the TV or satellite work but this was not an issue - much nicer reading in peace. But perhaps some explanation or manual would help. The utensils were good but the plates provided are too big to go in the dishwasher.

When we arrived at the village by bus the caretaker came to meet us in a car and took our bags up the steep hill to the villa so we did not have to carry them. This was unexpected and extremely kind.

A local information brochure in the villa would have been helpful. However, there is a tourist info centre in the village and the lady there was so helpful with bus and ferry times. For those who need to catch the earliest ferry from the island and have no car, beware. There is no bus service linking to the first ferry ; worth knowing if you have a flight to catch. There is also only 1 taxi on the island but he was booked for the week. The bus was fine though and the ferries and catamaran excellent to Split. It is worth knowing that you can't get to Trogir directly from Solta. We got to Solta by ferry and bus as we had no car so worth knowing it is a 10 minute uphill walk with bags to the villa.

Impressed with: The crystal clear water in the sea. The excellent ferry services. The standard of facilities in the marinas.
Not impressed with: The food in the restaurants was a bit dull and the same in every one.
Recommend: We thought the best meal we had all holiday was at the bar overlooking Sesula Bay by the dive school. Excellent fresh grilled meat and tuna - generous portions, good salads, nice ambience. The dive school was also friendly and helpful
Favourite villa moment: Definitely the amazing sunsets sitting at the beach bar in Maslinica
