Apart from the Brijuni islands, another interesting excursion is to the sparkling, turquoise Limski Kanal Fjord, ideally rounded off by a visit to one of the local restaurants serving the oysters and mussels which are cultivated here. If you’re lucky you’ll also see the dolphins which sometimes venture into the fjord. Some of the best coves and beaches in the region are at Rabac, www.rabacfestival.com on the eastern coast of the peninsula, four of which have been awarded the coveted Blue Flag status. The most famous of these is the Maslinica Beach.

There are a number of diving schools in the region, with one of the most popular dives being the wreck of the Baron Gautschferry which sunk off the coast of Rovinj in 1914.
