Bosnia reopens international railway
02 April 2009Bosnia and Herzegovina's tourism infrastructure has received a major boost with the reopening of its international railway.
As reported by Deutsche Presse-Agentur, the link between the Balkan country's capital Sarajevo and its Serbian counterpart Belgrade will be restored after being closed down 17 years ago.
The line will once again become operational this September, the news agency reported, giving tourists the opportunity to travel hassle-free between the two cities.
This will undoubtedly come as great news to those thinking of visiting Sarajevo, which is home to major tourist attractions such as the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Art and the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Likewise, the Serbian capital Belgrade also hosts its fair share of cultural sites of interest, including the Goethe-Institut and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Meanwhile, a report from Companiesandmarkets.com has shown that the number of tourists visiting the Balkans, specifically Croatia, rose by 2.6 per cent in the first eight months of 2008.
