Comical communist play could lure theatre-goers to Croatia
26 November 2009British tourists with a passion for the arts may want to book a Croatian villa and head to the Balkan country for a break after it was announced a world-famous play on communism will be performed in Zagreb.
I Miss Communism will run from December 4th to 14th in the Histrionski Dom theatre in Croatia's capital, reports the Croatian Times.
The one-woman play, which has been a hit across the globe, takes a comic look at three generations of women who lived during communist times.
Ines Wurth, who performs the critically-acclaimed show, tells the newspaper: "My story is a drama with intense comic moments that won't leave you untouched. It's what I was raised in, it's what I came to America to escape from and it's what I ran back to."
The play may also entice history buffs to venture to Croatia to take a light-hearted look at the policy while ruled much of Eastern Europe for decades.
Croatia's Theatre Night takes place this weekend with more than 40 plays across the country available to view for free.
