Croatian holiday could create unique Christmas experience
30 November 2009Tourists who opt for a Croatian holiday this Christmas will not be left disappointed or without something to enjoy, if one travel expert is to be believed.
James Martin, guide to Europe travel at About.com, has suggested that anyone seeking to enjoy the festivities away from home in a large city will be faced with a choice of numerous activities to enjoy this December.
He has advised anyone spending Christmas overseas - in places such as Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik - to "go to the tourist office and get information on what's going on. In any big city, there will be lots to do around the holidays, even for a foreigner".
Another "nice" aspect of Christmas abroad is the chance to indulge in foreign cuisine, Mr Martin stated in his article for the website.
Menu boards are likely to be on display outside restaurants with special festive meals on offer - in Croatia this could be one of the country's famous speciality fish dishes.
Finally, the travel expert advised all holidaymakers to embrace the culture they find themselves in, as "you never know what will come to you when you make yourself available" - especially at this time of the year.
Zagreb was this week described as having "an air of magic" about it at Christmas time by travel guide Adela Markovic.
