Dubrovnik Airport expands to welcome VIPs

Dubrovnik Airport is set to expand its parking area for private aircraft so it can accommodate VIPs.

That is according to the Crotian Times which reported that room for 20 more aeroplanes will be made available by the expansion at the end of the tourist season.

Also included in the plans is the proposed creation of a VIP guest lounge, furthering Dubrovnik as a destination for the rich and famous.

A VIP lounge at the airport costs in excess of 150 euros, according to the newspaper, which suggests that the expansion will be a financial success as well as a logistical one.

Dubrovnik Airport has been increasing the amount of passengers it services in recent year, having risen from 1,120,453 in 2006 to 1,191,474 in 2008.

The city is situated on the Adriatic coast and features the Old city of Dubrovnik, which was made a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1979.
