Football fans could travel to Zagreb to witness Croatia's qualifying campaign
08 February 2010Football fans looking for top-quality international competition in the next 20 months may wish to time their Croatian holiday with one of the national team's matches.
The draw for the qualifying round of the European Championships was completed yesterday and sees Croatia take on Greece, Malta, Latvia, Israel and Georgia in the fight to reach the finals in Poland and Ukraine.
With matches spread between September and October 2011, tourists could take their pick of the dates and book a Croatian villa for a fixture.
Greece is arguably the most attractive fixture to neutrals heading on a Croatian holiday, with manager Slaven Bilic admitting: "Greece will be our toughest opponent in our efforts to qualify for the European Championships."
The national team play their home matches at the Maksimir Stadium, home of Dinamo Zagreb - giving those travelling to Zagreb for football the chance to explore the historic city.
Croatia will not be competing in this summer's World Cup after losing out to England and Ukraine in qualifying.
