Giant yacht could tempt sailing fans to travel to Croatia
24 December 2009Fans of sailing and the sea may wish to book a Balkan break and head to Croatia immediately after hearing that a 50-metre, 30 million (£26.9 million) yacht has been unveiled in the country.
The vessel, which has been made for Croatian firm Zepter, was launched at Kraljevica port in the Primorsko-Goranska region, reports the Croatian Times.
While the boat's primary use will be to transport goods around the Adriatic, it could double up as a tourist attraction - with visitors flocking to take a look.
Travellers may have to move quickly to secure their Croatian villa or waterfront apartment though, with the newspaper warning that the yacht is due to sail to Monte Carlo in May where it will be shown off at the glamorous Monaco Grand Prix.
It is the first of a string of boats due to be built for Zepter.
People who visit Kraljevica to view the vessel may also wish to travel to nearby Rijeka, where a £13 million port renovation has transformed the harbour area of the historic city.
