Holiday in Croatia 'superb' for birds

A holiday in Croatia could be the perfect option for bird-lovers, with 215 species to spot on the island of Cres.

Six-night programmes to the destination give those who holiday in Croatia the chance to experience the island's wildlife for themselves.

However, birds are not the only fauna that visitors might expect to see during their stay on Cres.

Reptiles and amphibians are also abundant in the region - and are a driving force behind the growth in the Griffon vulture community.

Songbirds of a number of different species also inhabit the island and are present primarily in the forested mountains.

On the west coast of Cres, secluded in the southern part of a protected cove that serves as the island's port, the ACI Marina could prove a worthy destination for tourists.

The marina has a number of amenities aimed at boat owners - such as a nautical gear shop - the Croatian National Tourist Board reveals.

Its cafe and restaurant could also provide a taste of Croatian food for visitors who prefer to remain on land.
