More interest shown in InterRail trips
09 June 2009InterRail trips around Europe are increasing in popularity, it has been suggested.
Getting a railway pass of this type allows travellers to head to destinations across Europe such as Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia and Serbia on one ticket - and the number of people using the passes rose five per cent in the first four months of 2009.
This figure, reported by the Eurail Group, which manages the passes on behalf of national rail operators, was based on a year-on-year comparison.
People who choose to take in Croatia on their Europe-wide trip generally like to stay in Dubrovnik accommodation or make a visit to the many islands associated with the nation.
Marketing director of the Eurail Group Ana Dias e Seixas said: "Despite the economic slowdown we see that our growth continues and more people choose to go on a holiday by train."
The service is a particularly popular way to travel in summertime, she added.
