Solo travellers may be suited to holiday in Croatia
19 November 2009A holiday in Croatia could be the perfect destination for solo travellers, of which there is an increasing amount.
More than 15 per cent of all tourists have travelled alone in the last year, according to a recent report by ebookers.com.
Anthony Page, editor of solotravel.org, believes that the credit crunch has caused more people to go abroad by themselves because friends and family cannot afford to join them.
Other possible reasons include, according to Mr Page: "Operators offering niche trips to solos where they have a specific interest and cannot find friends to go with."
More than a third of those questioned in the ebookers.com poll admitted they would like to try something a bit different to the usual package holiday in the sun.
Croatia's renowned blend of beautiful beaches and rich history could provide solo travellers the especially diverse holiday they seek.
One in ten Britons admitted to being tempted by solo travelling because of the great deals offered to individual holidaymakers.
