Tourism campaign 'to show off highlights of a Croatian holiday'

Britons planning their summer holiday may wish to wait for a tourism campaign promoting Croatian holidays to begin, which may illustrate much of what a trip to the Balkans can offer.

Croatia's Ministry of Tourism has confirmed it will spend €30 million (£26.2 million) on a series of advertising ploys designed to lure people to the Adriatic coast, reports the Croatian Times.

The country's tourism minister Damir Bajs has already confirmed he will allocate some of the cash to online promotions.

As well as Croatia's long, unspoilt beaches, travelling to Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb is likely to feature in the campaign.

Mr Bajs, according to the newspaper, believes showing off Croatia's coastline - some of which has been described as the most beautiful in Europe - is key to attracting more people in to Croatian villas and waterfront properties in 2010.

Tourists could use budget airline easyJet to reach Croatia, with the carrier recently revealing it is opening new routes to the country from the UK from May.
