This is a great place to stay, just outside the city walls and beside the cable car. The apartment was modern, very nicely decorated and we loved the coffee machine! Air conditioning was perfect and having a balcony was great! You generally hear that people were very nice when they go to a country, but you generally expect a mix. I think everyone was genuinely nice. Even people selling in shops and stalls weren't too pushy, they'd just approach you, but if you didn't want to buy they wouldn't make you feel awkward. They old town is perfect, because it's all pedestrianised. It's well set up for tourists, but it's not a tacky tourist trap. Great seafood! The prices in Dubrovnik old town were a lot higher than we expected. I had heard Croatia was a lot cheaper than even Poland which we had visited recently, but this wasn't true. However, being in a hot spot like the old town Dubrovnik, which you wouldn't really want to leave, means people will hike up the prices. We knew it would be cheaper outside, but we liked where we were, and weren't bothered going down town to shop, as it wouldn't be as scenic.
