Accommodation Croatia: Adriatic institute added to influential property rights index
19 March 2008
Croatia's status as a burgeoning economic powerhouse has reached a new peak with its integration into this year's International Property Rights Index (IPRI).
The country's Adriatic Institute for Public Policy is one of a number of new organisations joining the index, which measures countries on the significance of both physical and intellectual property rights and their protection for economic wellbeing.
Representatives for the Washington-based Property Rights Alliance (PRA) pointed out that the IPRI also serves to help underperforming countries develop robust economies through an emphasis on sound property law, creating social and economic stability and the freedom to trade in goods and ideas.
Furthermore, the index gives researchers, policymakers and the public a tool for comparative analysis and future research.
"As property rights continue to face challenges around the world, we hope this study will be a useful tool for policymakers, think tanks, academics, and investors by highlighting the importance of property rights as a key building block for economic growth," remarked Kelsey Zahourek, PRA executive director.
The economic potential of Croatia's property offerings was further underlined recently, when real estate developer Quinlan Private Golub announced plans to extend its substantial operations to Croatia.
