Accommodation Croatia: Adriatic paradise has the property edge

The surge in popularity of Croatian villas and other accommodation in the Adriatic paradise has got traditional destinations fearing for the future, it has emerged.

According to the International Herald Tribune, real estate specialists in countries like Portugal are waking up to the fact that lower-priced apartments are available in countries offering sun and beaches within easy reach of Europe's capitals.

One such country is Croatia, which joins eastern European neighbour Bulgaria, Brazil and Morrocco as some of the most popular emerging markets.

"It looks as if the world of resort real estate and second homes is opening up completely," confirmed Maurice Elst, managing director of International Realty Group, part of a property network in Portugal.

Ricardo Roquette, head of residential operations at another real estate outlet in Lisbon, added to the newspaper: "If you go to an exhibition in London, you can't miss Bulgaria, Croatia - and they're selling for one third of the price of what we're selling."

A growing number of people drawn to Croatia travel and villa rental have testified to the quality of the country's buildings, with many villas and apartments constructed with better materials, improved craftsmanship and a wider choice of features than those in other destinations.ADNFCR-1197-ID-18491883-ADNFCR
