Ancic continues Barcelona quest
30 April 2008
Croatian tennis star Mario Ancic has moved into the next round of the Barcelona Open as he overcame world number 19 Andy Murray.
It sets the Split-born player up for the clay season, with the French Open little more than a month away.
His second round victory was something of a shock, with Murray ranked 32 places higher than Ancic.
It was a second win for Ancic over Murray in the space of a month, making up for a loss in the Marseille Open final earlier this year.
Murray said blamed himself for a "flat" performance, pointing at taking a late wild card entry as a hindrance.
Reports however said Ancic was "too good" for the Scot, taking advantage of three wasted break points before despatching Murray for love in the final game of the second set/
In the end Ancic prevailed 6-4, 6-4 in this tie, to see aside a weak performance by his British rival.
