Ansip prepares to visit Croatia
08 September 2008
A political visit to Croatia should strengthen ties between the country and Estonia, it is hoped.
Estonian prime minister Andrus Ansip is travelling to the Balkans tomorrow to meet with Croatian counterpart Ivo Sanader.
Strengthening economic and political relations between the two countries will be the main focus of talks, as the two prepare to join NATO and the European Union (EU).
Energy and the future of the EU are likely to be among more specific discussions, while Mr Ansip is also expected to make a speech at a business seminar organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce.
A business delegation will accompany the prime minister to Croatia as Estonia seeks to increase its interest in the west Balkans.
It was recently revealed the Slovakian deputy premier for knowledge-based society, European affairs, human rights and minorities, Dusan Caplovic, visited Croatia last week on a four-day trip.
According to tasr.sk, he met with a range of politicians as well as taking in a number of Slovakian events held in the country.
