Beer Festival set to take place in Zagreb
10 September 2008
Zagreb is preparing to host Runjanfest, or Septemberfest, the Croatian equivalent of Munich's Oktoberfest, it has been revealed.
Hosted from September 24th to 30th at Lake Bundek, the festival promises to offer attendees cultural, culinary and entertainment events each day, reports Javno.com.
Over 20 types of beer, Croatian eco-products and sausages will be on offer to Zagreb residents and guests alike, while local band Novi fosili will open Septemberfest before more than 100 artists give performances over the week.
Milan Bandic, mayor of Zagreb, told the news provider: "If we manage to recreate a part of the Oktoberfest atmosphere, a manifestation with 100 years of tradition, something Munich is proud of, I will be satisfied."
Tickets for the event will cost 1.40 euros (£1.12), with beer included.
Milan Bandic told Javno.com earlier this year the festival will take place and insisted once it was organised, as it now has been, it will be smooth to operate.
