Brazil to visit Croatia for Davis Cup tie
16 April 2008
Croatia will host Brazil in a Davis Cup qualification game after the draw was made today.
The games will take place in Croatia on September 19th to the 21st and the Balkan side will go into the tie as strong favourites.
Marin Cilic, a member of the Croatian team, said: "I don't think it could have gone better, apart from India at home, but Brazil is a very big chance for us to get into the world group. I think we will play in the hall on a good field."
He added that the Brazilian side has one "respectable couple" and the remaining two single players are "not that special" so it is a great opportunity for the team.
Cllic concluded that he is happy the Croatian team avoided the three strongest opponents in the draw and that the games will be played in Croatia.
In other sporting news the Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his confidence that Niko Kranjcar will stay at the club after impressing this season.
