Britain's 'binge holidaymakers' choose to rent abroad

More British people are choosing to rent villas in Croatia and other foreign destinations as the nation turns into one of "binge holidaymakers", it has been claimed.

Research by Mintel suggests that a growing number of people like to treat themselves to multiple, differing holiday experiences throughout the year.

Part of this development, according to the firm, is a preference to splash out on various breaks instead of one summer trip.

Rental expert Greg Grant noted that Croatia's booming property market signals a wider trend towards more "authentic" and unique holiday experiences.

"Investors have become more adventurous - there are now hundreds of properties in exotic and secluded locations, as well as city centre apartments and unusual conversions," he said.

Mr Grant went on to point out that renting holiday homes direct from owners is also increasingly popular, as this provides huge savings on travel agent prices - as well as more space, privacy and flexibility than a hotel.

Holidaymakers considering renting a villa or apartment in Croatia or elsewhere have previously been advised to look into airport transfers, handover details and maintenance arrangements before signing on the dotted line.ADNFCR-1197-ID-18466450-ADNFCR
