Captain scores at both ends as Croatia draw
02 June 2008
Niko Kovac proved himself both a hero and a villain on Saturday as Croatia drew its final warm-up match before the European Championships.
Hungary held the finalists to a 1-1 draw in Budapest after the Croatian captain scored at both ends.
A header by Kovac after 23 minutes had given Croatia the lead but he also had the last touch when Hungary scored as half time approached.
He told uefa.com after the game: "We played against a very good side who beat Greece. We have to be aware that Austria will also be strong in our first Euro match and that won't be easy."
Freebetting.net has argued Croatia are a good bet to win their group despite being paired with former champions Germany.
The online sports betting guide said there is "no doubt" Croatia can win group A as Germany are a much better side..
Croatia are currently at odds of around 1/2 to qualify from their group.
