03 January 2008
A delectable olive oil festival is to be held in mid-March in the northern Istrian village of Krasica.
Celebrating olive growing and olive oil, the festival includes an art competition and of course plenty of tasting on March 15th and 16th.
From your villa in Istria you can visit the festival and explore the region of Buje. With its rolling hills covered with vineyards, olive groves and forests, this is the perfect antidote to everyday life.
Buje was a Roman settlement in ancient times and is now famous for its viticulture and agriculture
The region features some impressive karst scenery and horse riding through fields fragrant with wild thyme and fir is a popular activity.
The church of St Servelus is also worth a visit to see its beautiful 15th century wooden statues. There is also a Venetian Gothic palace and a 16th century loggia as well as the civic museum.
