Croatia Travel: Country benefiting from dental tourism

Croatia is benefiting from the increasing number of British citizens heading for foreign countries for their dental treatment, it has been revealed.

The Sun reports the cost of getting teeth fixed in the UK "has created a boom in dental tourism", of which Croatia is said to be a beneficiary due to its low-cost, high-quality dental care.

Dental tourists are recommended to check the level of insurance cover their dentist provides and whether or not they have to return each year.

It is also advised that potential patients make sure, as in their home country, that the dentist is a member of a reputable authority.

Simon Purchall, who specialises in similar trips to nearby Hungary, told the newspaper: "With the deterioration in the UK NHS dental system and the high costs, dental tourism is a huge growth area and it will only get bigger."

One Croatian journalist, Damir Matkovic, is likely to be an advocate of his country's dentists.

The reporter managed to convince his bosses at HTV to pay for his treatment to keep his famous smile looking pearly white, according to Ananova.
