Croatia and its capital 'commended by report'

Zagreb is the city in which takes the lowest number of procedures to register a property in south-east Europe, it has been revealed.
BBC Monitoring European has unveiled a report entitled Doing Business in Southeast Europe 2008, which also showed the average cost of enforcing a contract in the city is 14 per cent, lower than the average of 30 per cent in the rest of south-east Europe, istockanalyst.com reports.
Croatia and Macedonia were described as having made "remarkable progress in improving their investment climate" and ranked among the top ten reformers worldwide.
The report stated Croatia is well-placed to attract investment from abroad due to its European Union (EU) candidacy, closeness to European markets and encouragement of business growth.
It added: "Croatia is committed to reform and the continuous improvement of its business environment."
Croatia's EU hopes were recently boosted after a summit including politicians from the country and Albania, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro and Slovakia in Dubrovnik.
The Southeast European Times reported the head of the Department of Croatia at the European Commission's General Administration, said the country is likely to complete the technicalities of its negotiations by the end of next year.
