Croatia coach dismisses West Ham talk
05 September 2008
Croatian Slaven Bilic, manager of the national team, has been named as one of the favourites for the vacant position at English Premier League side West Ham.
A former player at the club, he has moved to cool such speculation, insisting the Croatian contract will be honoured.
Bilic, whose national squad are set to welcome England and their travelling supporters to Zagreb on Wednesday, has nevertheless admitted he would like to take the manager's job at Upton Park one day.
He told Sportske Novosti: "I always said West Ham will be my choice when I return to England. However, my contract with the Croatian FA expires in 2010 and I am intending to lead Croatia in this period."
Earlier this week, it was announced Croatian international defender Vedran Corluka has moved to West Ham's city rivals Tottenham Hotspur in an £8.5 million deal from Manchester City.
He joins compatriot and former Dinamo Zagreb colleague Luka Modric at the club.
