Croatia featured in new guidebook
31 January 2008
US tourists are being encouraged to cruise around Croatia's waters in a new holiday guidebook, it has emerged.
The Complete Guide to European Cruises offers advice on different ships and facilities, in addition to providing exploration ideas for sailors who want to avoid the beaten crowds of the organised tours, reports the Associated Press.
Author Douglas Stallings recommends the Old Town in Dubrovnik and the 13th century 80-foot city walls at Gradske Zidine for tourists.
Croatia is among the new destinations that US tourists are looking to visit through cruising, which offers a cost-effective means of visiting a variety of destinations, Mr Stallings told the news provider.
"More cruise lines have moved ships to Europe, particularly to cater to the American market, than at any time I can remember," he added.
The Times' Croatia Cruising Companion has described the country, with its range of busy marinas and remote village harbours as "a cruising ground that can keep everyone happy".
