Croatia gears up for handball world cup

Croatia is set to host the 2009 handball world cup and the country is keen to make sure it gives the best possible impression to fans and players alike.
Janvo reports that the Croatian prime minister, Ivo Sanader, has dispatched his construction minister, Marina Matulovic-Dropulic, to make sure that the facilities are up to scratch.
Ms Matulovic-Dropulic will make a tour of the sports halls that are being constructed in the cities that are to host the finals and report back with her findings.
The decision to launch the investigation underlines how serious the Croatian government takes both the sport and its international image.
Six Croatian cities will host games during the world cup, these are: Zagreb, Zadar, Split, Osijek, Varazdin and Porec.
Handball involves a team of seven players and each game consists of two 30-minute halves with a ten-minute half time break.
